King Vigil Depicts Journey of Violence
On Jan. 19, the Sunday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the students, faculty and staff affiliated with the King Center have organized a vigil and march that will take participants on a journey through time.

The Evolving Definitions of Femicide: Cristina Alcalde
Earlier this year, the Catholic University of Peru selected Associate Professor Cristina Alcalde of the Department of Gender & Women's Studies to be one of six international visiting professors and scholars.
Alcalde spent her time at the university teaching a graduate seminar on femicide and violence against women.
History Professor Wins Stuart L. Bernath Book Prize
UK history professor, Lien-Hang T. Nguyen recently received the Stuart L. Bernath Book Prize, an honor awarded annually by the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations. The prize recognizes the best book by a first-time author in the field of diplomatic history.
GIS Workshop Strengthens Community Ties
Students in geography Professor Matt Wilson's GIS Workshop course spent the past semester applying the knowledge of geographic technology they gained in the classroom to assist Lexington nonprofit organizations Seedleaf and Central Kentucky Council for Peace and Justice.

WRD 205: Rhetorics of Violence and Non-Violence with Beth Connors-Manke
